Build Your Own Website And Keep In Touch!

If you have family and friends scattered across the country, or even the world, you may be finding it difficult to keep in touch. You probably want to keep them up to date on what's going on with you and your family, but that can be difficult to do what with people being so busy these days, the cost of phone calls and postage, and the time involved in sending individual email messages. To help ease things up a bit, it may be time to build your own website.
Making a web site is not difficult, nor is it expensive or even time consuming. When you are in the early stages of planning the site it may take some time, but once you have done that updates can be made simply and easily when the site is up and running.
The first thing you will need to do is select a place to host your site. There are many options available for web hosting. If you have an Internet service provider, check with them. Often they allow a certain amount of web space for their customers to publish web sites. There are also many free web-hosting services available that can easily be founding by doing an Internet search. Or, for a relatively small amount of money, you can purchase your own domain and have it hosted for a nominal monthly fee.
The next step to build your own website is to determine what kind of content you want to include. Since you want to keep it as organized as possible, you may want to make some notes or even an outline so you know where you want things to be located. A good organizational structure will help people to navigate on your site, and it will also make it easier for you to maintain your site and keep it up to date.
Prior to getting started on your project to build your own website, choose the colors that you plan to use and come up with a navigation plan. One of the most important aspects of any successful website is ease of navigation. Once you have settled these important matters, it will not take long to build your own website.
If this is the first site you have put together, you may want to use some of the tools available with many of the online hosting services available. They often include templates to make it easy for the novice to publish a web page or site. Alternately, you could try one of the many WYSIWYG web page editors that are available. These allow you to put together a web site without any HTML knowledge, and you will be able to see, as you work, exactly what the pages will look like on the web.
